Solution

Areolar connective tissue are type of connective tissue found below the skin, around blood vessels and nerves and in the bone marrow. It is made up of extracellular matrix and cells. The matrix contains fibroblast, histocytes, mast cells and small lymphoid cells. It also contains 2 types of fibres, namely inelastic white collagen fibres and elastic yellow elastin fibres. It performs many functions. It basically provides support, strength and elasticity. The histocytes protect against infection. Mast cells help in treating allergic reactions.
