Cells:
- Cells are the basic building blocks of living things.
- It is responsible for all life's processes.
- There are two distinct types of cells:
- Prokaryotes.
- Eukaryotes.
i) Prokaryotic Cells-
- Prokaryotes are single-celled microorganisms that include bacteria.
- Prokaryotic cells do not have a well-defined nucleus.
- Instead, the genetic material is suspended freely in the cell (nucleoid)
ii) Eukaryotic Cells:
- Eukaryotes are unicellular or multicellular.
- Eukaryotic cells have a well-defined nucleus.
- Genetic material (DNA) is properly packed in the nucleus.
Essential characteristics of cells:
- Cells provide structure and support the growth of the body.
- Cells have a nucleus that acts as the "brain of the cell" as it regulates all cell activities.
- The nucleus also carries genetic material that plays a major role in growth and reproduction.
