The atmosphere is the layer of gas that surrounds a planet.
Earth's atmosphere consists of 78% of nitrogen, 21% of oxygen, and the rest gases 1%.
The atmosphere is consist of thick layers of gases.
Earth's atmosphere consists of 5 different layers:
Troposphere- It is the lowest layer of the atmosphere. It consists of 78% of gases in the atmosphere. It stretches 10km upward from sea level.
Stratosphere- It is the layer above the troposphere. It stretches about 31 miles from ground level. The ozone layer lies in this layer.
Mesosphere- It is the layer above the stratosphere. and stretched about 53 miles from the earth's surface. It has the coldest part of the atmosphere.
Thermosphere- It is the layer above the mesosphere. In this region temperature increases as you go up. Rise in temperature because of UV and X-rays from the sun.
Exosphere- It is the layer above the thermosphere. It is the last layer of the atmosphere. Air from this layer keeps on escaping to outer space.
