King Ajayraj ascended the throne of Shakambhari in the 12th century CE and he established the city of Ajayameru, which later came to be known as Ajmer.

The Chauhan rulers also captured Delhi, which was the capital of the Tomar kings, who established their supremacy there.

Prithviraj III or Raipithora was a powerful ruler of the Chauhan dynasty. He has fought many battles and was known to be a brave fighter.

Chand Bardai, a famous poet, has written about his valour in the famous epic - ‘Prithviraj Raso’.
