Solution:

• Davanagere is known as the Manchester of Karnataka, since it was famous for its textile production during the 1960s. But, due to the lack of raw cotton the mills have been shut down now.
• The Davanagere District has 6 Taluks & it was formed in 1997, by dividing Chitradurga and adding a few parts of the Shivamogga and Bellari districts.
• A lot of sugar factories and food processing units operate in this district. Shanti Sagar is the biggest lake in South India, and it is located in the Channagiri Taluk.
