The strategy implemented by Babur’s army

The strategy implemented by the Babur’s army are

  • Babur’s troops using guns helped them claim victory in the battle. In terms of artillery abilities, the Lodi troops lagged and the sound produced by canons scared Lodi’s war elephants.
  • Babur had excellent tactics in his favour more than the weapons, which helped him emerge victorious in the battle. The placement of troops as planned by Babur helped them defeat such a large force of Lodi.
  • The Tulghuma and the Araba were the new techniques Babur implemented during this first battle of Panipat.
  • Tulghuma referred to the division of the army into the units of left, right and centre, while the Araba referred to the carts used to trigger cannon fire.
  • Babur dexterously exploited this deadly combination to create havoc among Lodi’s troops.

Result of the war

The First Battle of Panipat led to the death of Ibrahim Lodi. Also to the demise of the Lodi Dynasty and the Sultanate of Delhi in India. Also, the Mughal rule in India began with the end of the Sultanate.
