Write a note on the formation of twins.

Twins:

They can be generated as offspring when 2 babies are developed from the same pregnancy.

Twin formation can be of two types:

1. Monozygotic twins-

• They are created when a single zygote separates into two embryos.
• These twins are also identical to one another.

2. Dizygotic twins-

• They are fraternal.
• Separate eggs are released simultaneously from the ovary and fertilized by separate sperm to form these twins.
• There are many different types of twins, depending on whether the placentas are shared or not and whether they are boy-boy, boy-girl, or girl-girl.
