• Under the Langar system, everyone had to sit together and take their meals, irrespective of their religion, caste, class, creed, or sex. This system helped inculcate a spirit of unity, cooperation and charity among the Sikh community.
• Guru Nanak Dev Ji established the Sangat system.
• Sangat was a congregation of devotees irrespective of caste, creed, religion, or gender. It was Guru Angad Dev Ji who gave a formal shape to this Sangat system.
• He made the Sangat system a permanent and regular institution of ten Sikhs. The Sangat played an important role in the organisation of the Sikh community.
