Guru Amar Das Ji was also a strong social reformer, apart from being a spiritual leader. His reforms played a major role in the Sikh religion.
Guru Amar Das Ji condemned caste discrimination and untouchability. He also preached against ‘Sati’ and the 'Purdah system’.
He advised the Sikhs to not indulge in alcohol, tobacco, and other intoxicants.
The Baoli at Goindwal which was constructed by him helped in ending water scarcity in that area.
The Sangat gatherings at Goindwal during his time on occasions like Vaisakhi and Diwali helped in developing a sense of unity and brotherhood among the people.
