Solution

Instructions: Divide the answer into the following points for a clear approach:
  • The goals of the women’s movements.
  • The demands during the women’s movement in France.
  • The demands during the women’s movement in England.
  • The impacts of the women’s movements.
Solution:
  • When we analyse the women’s movements that took place after the Industrial Revolution, we can see that the goals of these protests were to be treated as equals of men, to gain the right to participate in the government through voting and to hold public posts.
  • To meet these goals, there were women’s movements in France and England. In France, it took place in 1791 when the ‘Declaration of the Rights of Men’ was being chartered. The women demanded a separate ‘Declaration of the Rights of Women’. But they received no such thing. In England, women demanded the right to vote. While they received these rights during the Russian Revolution in 1917, in England they received partial rights by 1918 and the absolute right to vote by 1928 only.
  • The impact of these women’s movements was that it got the women to realise the discrimination they had been facing. It encouraged them to reflect on their personal lives and fight for their rights. It even paved the way for women to participate in national movements in other countries.
