Fruits are divided into -simple, aggregate and multiple or compound fruit.
Simple fruits:-
Dehiscent fruit- Dry, many-seeded and open at maturity.
Indehiscent fruit- do not burst on maturity.
Schizocarpic fruit- resembles both dehiscent and indehiscent fruit.
Drupe-fleshy fruit formed from mono or polycarpellary superior ovary.
Eg- mango and coconut.
Aggregate fruit-formed from polycarpellary, apocarpous ovary.
Eg- custard apple.
Multiple or compound fruit-develops from the entire inflorescence.
Eg- pineapple and banyan.
