Question

Write a pair of integers whose product is -12 and which has seven integers between them

Open in App
Solution

product = -12
we shall look at all pairs of integers who product is -12
Pairs are (1, -12) (-1, 12) (3, -4) (-3, 4) (6, -2) (-6, 2)

Required pair of integers (-6, 2)

Product = -6 × 2 = -12
Integers between -6 and 2 are -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1
Therefore there are 7 integers between them.

Also pair (6, -2) is also possible
Product = 6 × -2 = -12
Integers between them are -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Therefore there are 7 integers between them.
