Question

Write a rational number which does not lie between the rational numbers $$-\dfrac{2}{3}$$ and $$-\dfrac{1}{5}$$.


Solution

Given: Two rational number $$\dfrac{-2}{3}$$ & $$\dfrac{-1}{5}$$
Rational number which does not lies between the above rational numbers can be found as follows:
$$\dfrac{-2\times5}{3\times5}$$ & $$\dfrac{-1\times3}{5\times3}$$

$$\dfrac{-10}{15}$$ & $$\dfrac{-3}{15}$$ By taking LCM

so number which does not lies betwewn $$\dfrac{-2}{3}$$ & $$\dfrac{-1}{5}$$ are $$\dfrac{-2}{15}$$ ,$$\dfrac{-1}{15}$$ and continue if you want to move but don't choose between $$\dfrac{-10}{15}$$ & $$\dfrac{-3}{15}$$
