Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
Ethanol can be converted to ethanoic acid by oxidation of ethanol with acidified K2Cr2O7 or alkaline KMnO4
CH3CH2OHalkaline KMnO4CH3COOHCH3CH2OHacidified K2Cr2O7CH3COOH

Reaction between methane and Chlorine is a free radical substitution reaction because the hydrogens in methane are replaced or sunstituted by the Cl .
CH4+Cl2hνCH3Cl+HCl
The free radical is a chain reaction and continues till all the H are replaced by Cl
CHCl3+Cl2hνCCl4
Regards!
