Prithviraj Chauhan was a king from the (Chauhan) dynasty. His capital was in Ajmer. He controlled much of the present day Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and even parts of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab. Someshvara was the predecessor of Prithviraj Chauhan. He was defeated in the Second Battle of Tarain in 1192 C.E. Prithviraj Chauhan was born in Gujarat. He was born to queen Karpuradevi (a Kalachuri princess) and Chahamana king Someshvara.
The Prithviraj Raso is a Brajbhasha epic poem about the life of the 12th century Indian king Prithviraj Chauhan (c. 1166-1192 CE). It is attributed to Chand Bardai, who according to the text, was a court poet of the king.
