Solution

Instructions:
  • Agriculture of Nigeria - difference in South and North
  • Agriculture of Northern Nigeria
Solution:
There is a significant difference in the agricultural practices in southern and northern Nigeria. This happens due to the differences in the climate and rainfall.

Agriculture in Northern Nigeria:
  1. Food crops: North Nigeria receives less rainfall hence food crops with less water requirement like millets, Guinea corn and Cassava are grown here.
  2. Animal husbandry: Due to climatic conditions and limited agricultural practices, animal husbandry is one of the important occupations. People rear cattle, sheeps and goats.
  3. Commercial crops: Crops like Kola nuts, groundnuts, tobacco and cotton are grown in the region on a commercial scale.
