(a) Indian Deserts: Indian deserts lie in the west of Aravali range. It covers the area of Western Rajasthan. They are covered with sand. In deserts, sand dunes are common phenomena. Indian deserts being sandy plain receive less rainfall i.e. 150 mm in year. Vegetation cover is extremely cover. Some temporary small rivers appear during the rainy season. Luni is the only large river here. Parchans, crescent shaped sand dunes are the most prominent feature of Indian Desert.
(b) Peninsular Plateau: It is a tableland which is composed of old crystalline igneous and metamorphic rocks. It was formed due to drifting and breaking of Gondwana land. It has large broad valleys and hills. It is higher in the west and slightly sloppy in the east. It is generally divided into two parts: Central Islands and The Deccan Plateau. They are the storehouse of minerals and energy resources.
