The Bhakra Nangal project is joint venture project of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan state governments. The two dams, one at Bhakra and another at Nangal together referred to as Bhakra-Nangal project.
The Bhakra canal system providing 27.4 lakh ha. In Punjab 64 km long and 8 meters deep. It supplies water Bhakra irrigation canals. Four power houses at Ganguwal, Kotla on left bank and right bank with total installed capacity of 1204 MW and 3680 km long transmission lines to distribute electricity to neighbouring areas.
