A vast difference in noticed across different sections of population as far as education is concerned.
(i) Literacy among males is 50% higher than females and it about 50% higher in urban areas as compared to the rural areas.
(ii) Literacy rates vary from 96% in some districts of Kerala to below 30% in some parts of Madhya Pradesh.
(iii) The primary school system has expanded to over 50,00,000 villages in India yet this expansion has also resulted in poor quality of schooling and high dropout rates.
