A vast difference in noticed across different sections of population as far as education is concerned.
(i) Literacy among males is $50$% higher than females and it about $50$% higher in urban areas as compared to the rural areas.
(ii) Literacy rates vary from $96$% in some districts of Kerala to below $30$% in some parts of Madhya Pradesh.
(iii) The primary school system has expanded to over $50,00,000$ villages in India yet this expansion has also resulted in poor quality of schooling and high dropout rates.
