Hot and rainy lands are found in the regions located between 10° North and 10° South of the equator and are called equatorial climatic regions.
  • The proximity of the regions to the equator causes the characteristics of the climate.​
  • The characteristics of equatorial regions include high atmospheric temperature throughout the year.
  • Dense evergreen vegetation consists of big trees, climbers, moss, and vanda.
  • The equatorial regions also have diverse fauna.​
  • The equatorial regions are characterized by dense forests with hardwood trees like ebony, mahogany, coconut tree, and rubber trees.​
  • The equatorial regions are characterised by diverse wildlife consisting of orangutans, elephants, tigers, lions, rhinos, and colourful birds.​
  • There are a few aboriginal tribes in equatorial regions. Some of them are ​Semangs of Malaysia​, Pygmies in the Amazon river basin, Kubus, and Dayaks of Indonesia.​
  • Some of the equatorial regions are Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brazil.​ These countries are good examples to show that equatorial regions are not only forest lands but are big cities having various economic activities as well.
