Geothermal energy
  • It uses the heat energy obtained from the earth to generate electricity.
  • When the magma meets the groundwater, it gets heated up, and when it reaches the earth’s surface, it turns into steam.
  • This steam can be used to run a turbine and then to rotate the generator and thereby producing electricity.
  • Major geothermal plants in India are in Parvati valley near Manikaran in Himachal Pradesh and Puga Valley in Ladakh.
