The Hilsa fish is a species of fish which is very popular as food fish in South Asia. It is also known by many other different names such as Ilish, Hilsa herring, Hilsa Shad, Ellis, Modar, Palva, Pallo Machhi, Sboor, Terubuk etc. It is a very important species of fish in Bangladesh. The most amazing fact about this fish is that it is a sea fish but lays eggs in a large river.
