Ancient people were not aware of clothes; therefore, they were at the mercy of the weather. During stone age, people used to cover their bodies with big leaves, tree barks and animal skins and fur to keep them warm.
When men learned agriculture, they started using cotton and flax twigs for weaving fabrics. Stitching was not known at that time, so they wore unstitched clothes.
In 14th century, with the invention of sewing needle, people started wearing stitched clothes. In India, western clothing gained popularity in 20th century.
