Open in App
Solution

Instructions:
  • Introduction to the equatorial region
  • The lifestyle of humans
Solution:
The region 5° north and 5° south of the equator is termed the equatorial region. Amazon basin in South America, Zaire basin in Africa, and Malaysia and Indonesia in Asia are areas falling under the equatorial region.
Most of the region is covered by dense forests and hence people are away from modern development.

Humans have adapted to this region by making changes in their lifestyles and occupations.
  1. Food: it includes fruits, nuts, fish, birds, and reptiles which are abundantly found in the region.
  2. Occupation: Food gathering and shifting cultivation are the main occupations. Primitive agricultural implements such as sticks and hoes are used for subsistence agriculture.
