Bastar is a district in Chattisgarh state. It is a predominantly tribal district with about 70% of the population being tribals. The major tribal communities in Bastar are Gond, Bhatra, Muria, Abhuj Maria, Bison Horn Maria, Halbaa and Dhurvaa. Each tribal has its unique and distinct tribal culture. Many of these still live in deep forests. They are know for their colourful festivals and art and culture.
