Write a short note on Marasmus.

When the diet lacks both protein and energy giving food, it leads to Marasmus. The patient becomes thin. The body appears like a skeleton. Eyes become sunken. This disease usually affects children who are less than one year of age. When the mother of such a child becomes pregnant, the child is deprived of mother's milk. Because of poverty, the child does not get enough nutrition and hence, starts suffering from Marasmus.
