Open in App
Solution

Multiple ovulation embryo transfer (MOET) technology provides chances of successful production of hybrids. In this method, cow is administered with FSH like hormone, to induce follicular maturation and then the super ovulation is brought about. In each cycle, 68 eggs mature simultaneously. The cow is either mated with an elite bull or artificially inseminated. The blastocysts at 832 cells stage are recovered non-surgically and transferred to surrogate mothers. The genetic mother is available for another round of super ovulation. This technology is successfully used for cattles, sheep, rabbits, buffaloes etc. High milk yielding breeds of female and high quality meat yielding bull(lean meat with less lipids) have been bred successfully to increase herd size in a short period.
