• The distance between Earth and sun is at its minimum around January 4.When the earth orbits around the sun and it is closest to the sun the position of Earth is said to be perihelion.At this point it is about 147 Million kilometers from the sun. In this position, the southern end of the axis is towards the sun.
• Around July 4, earth is at its farthest position from the sun. And this is called Aphelion.
• The distance between the sun and the Earth at this position is about 152 Million km. In this position, the northern end of the axis is towards the sun.
