Dear student.
Nitrogen is an inert gas made by combination of two nitrogen atoms to for N2 molecule. It was discovered by Daniel Rutherford in 1972. The molecular weight of N2 is 28 approx. It covers nearly 78% of earth atmosphere.
Uses of nitrogen are as follows:
1) In manufacture of stainless steel.
2) Used for cryopreservation means for conserving eggs, sperms etc.
3) Used in storage of liquid explosive to prevent explosion.
4) As preserving agent for packaged food.
5) Used in various electric equipments.
