1. It is the longest part of the digestive system. It is 7 meters long.
2. It consists of 3 parts duodenum, jejunum and ileum. Digestion of carbohydrates, proteins and fats take place here.
3. Small intestine has finger like projections called villi to increase the surface area for absorption.
