• The terrestrial ecosystem includes land habitats and organisms which live on land. Forest, grassland, desert, polar and mountain regions are different terrestrial habitats. (1 mark)
• Forest habitats are characterised by a thick vegetation cover in the form of trees. This habitat also includes a large number of animals. (0.5 Mark)
• Grassland habitats also have a thick vegetation cover but in the form of large grasses. (0.5 Mark)
• Desert habitats have very high temperaures and less vegetation. (0.5 Mark)
• Polar and moutain habitats have very low temperatures and less vegetation. (0.5 Mark)
