Coordination is known as the essence of management because:

1. It is needed in all the functions of management namely planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling .

2. Coordination is required at all levels, it is needed at top level to integrate the activities and helps to lead the work of all individuals in one direction to achieve organisational objectives. Coordination is needed at middle level to maintain a balance between the lower level and top level management. The lower level needs coordination to integrate the activities of the workforce to achieve organisational objectives.

3. A company where there is no coordination would strive to succeed in long run.

Hence, coordination is known as the essence of management.
