Solution

Biomolecules

  • Biomolecules are the organic molecules that are produced in or from living organisms.
  • Proteins are important biomolecules.

Different structures of proteins:

Proteins are thought to have four different levels of three-dimensional structure:

1. Primary structure:

  • The main structure of a protein is defined by the amino acid sequence in the peptide chains and the bonding between them, such as peptide, hydrogen, and Sulfide.
  • The primary structure is comprised of a linear chain of amino acids

2. Secondary structure:

  • Secondary structure refers to the peptide chains' stable structural patterns.
  • It contains regions of amino acid chains that are stabilized by hydrogen bonds from the polypeptide backbone.

3. Tertiary structure:

  • Tertiary structure encompasses all features of a polypeptide's three-dimensional folding.

4. Quaternary structure:

  • A quaternary structure refers to the complete arrangement in space of two or more polypeptide subunits in a protein.
