Solution:
The Indian Atomic Energy Commission was set up by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of India on 10th August, 1948 and Dr. Homi Bhabha was appointed as the first chairman of the IAEC.

Following are the objectives of the IAEC:

• Converting nuclear energy to electrical energy
• Enhancing the output of food grains
• Extending their usability period of food grains
• Development in the field of nanotechnology
