• Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was one of the most popular Bhakti saints. He was born on 15th April, 1469 A.D., at Rai Bhoi Ki Talwandi, now known as Nankana Sahib, in Pakistan.
• He condemned idol-worship, pilgrimages, and the ill-treatment of women, etc.
• He believed that God was one and formless and preached brotherhood.
• The teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji are incorporated in Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
• He undertook travels known as Udasis to remove the ignorance in the people and also composed important Banis.
• He spent the last years of his life in Kartarpur.
• Before his death, he nominated Bhai Lehna as his successor in 1539 A.D.
