Solution: Newspapers were published in large numbers in the later half of 19th century. They helped in the spread of liberals ideas of freedom, equality, home rule and independence. By reading the articles people were made aware of the unjust policies of the British government. It also allowed people residing in different parts of the country to communicate. Newspapers were the means through which people could compare their condition with others living around the world thereby arousing national awakening.
