Write a short note on the southwest monsoon and the northeast monsoon
Southwest Monsoon (Rainy) Season: The Southwest Monsoon Season or the Rainy Season starts its journey in the month of June and continues till September. This season is noticeable by the onset and advance of the monsoon where the winds blow from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal towards the land. These winds carry moisture along with them. When these winds hit or strike the mountain barriers, the rainfall starts.
Retreating Monsoon (Autumn) Season: The Autumn season occurs in between the month of October and November. This span of time is also referred to as the season of retreating monsoons. During this autumn season, the winds move back from the mainland to the Bay of Bengal. The southern parts of India, mainly Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh receive rainfall during this season.
Intense low-pressure formation over the Tibetan Plateau due to intense heating during the summer season cause this southwest monsoon. The permanent high-pressure cell in the South of the Indian Ocean (East to Northeast of Madagascar in summer). This monsoon season winds bring heavy rainfall to most parts of the country.
North-East monsoon winds bring rainfall to the southeast coast of the country mainly Tamil Nadu coast and Seemandhra’s south coast.
