1) Akbar followed extremely liberal policies and looked to appoint only the most efficient administrators, irrespective of their religion.
2) As a result, his team of advisors included Hindu Rajputs. Also he had a Hindu wife (Jodha) as well as his son was married to a Hindu Rajput princess.
3) Akbar believed in the quality of all religions and sought to combine all religions in a new religion called Din I Illahi.


1) Akbar divided the empire into provinces called subas, governed by a subadar who carried out both political and military functions.

Each province also had a diwan. For the maintenance of peace and order the subadar was supported by the military paymaster (bakhshi), the minister in charge of religious and charitable patronage (sadr), military commanders (faujdars) and the town police commander (kotwal).
