Solution

Apocrine sweat glands:

  1. These are exocrine glands that give out their secretion through the plasma membrane.
  2. These are typically connected to hair follicles generally located in areas that have dense hair such as genital areas, armpits.
  3. The apocrine sweat glands are larger in comparison to the eccrine sweat glands which are found deeper in the dermis.
  4. The sweat produced by these glands include organic compounds along with salts and water resulting in thicker sweat.
  5. It also causes bacterial decomposition and thus it is characterised by an odour.
  6. The release of this sweat is under the control of the nervous and hormonal systems.
