Food colours are added to provide good colour to the food. Artificial food colours are prepared with the use of chemicals and added to foods like sauce, jams and pickles. It contains small quantities of lead and arsenic. Overconsumption of these artificial colours is detrimental to health and causes disease like ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).
