It is a plant disease caused by a soil-inhabiting bacterium Agrobacterium tumefaecians.
Any dicot plant, roadside trees, etc. can get infested by this bacterium.
The infection causes the tissues to proliferate and the region becomes enlarged.
This is also known as hypertrophy.
As a result of which, the tumour or gall is formed.
This is a bacterial gall that imparts localised infection (many types of galls are formed due to different causative pathogens including viruses and fungi).
The symptoms can be easily distinguished by observing tumours on the leaves and the stem.
The spray of bactericides can help in controlling the infection.
