- Medicine and Surgery: Maharishi Charak wrote Charak Samhita which has descriptions of over 2000 herbs. Maharshi Sushruta wrote Shushrita Samhita which has descriptions for a variety of surgical instruments. Books were written about animal diseases like Hasti-Ayurveda for elephants and Shalihotra for horses.
