Solution

Transmission of viruses in plants:

  1. Majority of viruses are transmitted from infected plants to healthy ones through insect vectors.
  2. Although cell wall in plants form a rigid barrier between the intracellular components and the external environment and it needs to be penetrated by the virus.
  3. The plant viruses thus depend upon the soil and wind to transmit seeds and vectors
  4. Vectors either transmit virus propagative transmission that causes amplification of virus by replication
  5. Some of the vectors are fungi, bacteria, arthropods, nematodes and arachnids
  6. Human interference that includes experimental and grafting mechanical damage, physically destructing cell wall also lead to an array of transmission paths
  7. Viruses generally use these modes to get transmitted from one to another host
  8. Virus depends on physical damage, naturally produced by wind and fed of vectors or through human intervention
