Water is one of the many natural resources that human beings have been lucky to receive as part of the generous and bountiful gifts of nature. However, the misuse of water and the wanton waste has become a serious concern over the years. These natural resources can only last as long as we use them in a sustainable manner. There are many parts of the world where water is a luxury because supply is scarce and people have to pay exorbitant amounts of water tax to have a steady supply. When a necessity becomes a luxury, there are more factors involved than just a government which is not vigilant in terms of keeping tabs on the natural resources of the country. A drying up water table, change in weather conditions, wastage of water, illegal supply of excess water in certain parts of the city, all of these contribute towards this imbalance in supply of water. The government must do more to regulate the supply of water such that each and every household gets the requisite amount.
