The Lottery Ticket :
Ivan Dmitritch was a middle class man. One day, he was reading a newspaper. His wife asked him to see the lottery ticket. The serial number of their ticket was 9499 and number 26. He found the series of his wife lottery ticket. He had a tingling feeling and his joy knew no bounds.
Masha insisted him to see the winning number of the ticket but Ivan politely refused and began to dream of his future. If he won the prize amount of 75,000, he would spent twenty five thousand on an estate ant ten thousand for immediate expenses like furnishing, travelling and clearing debts. He would also put the remaining forty thousand in a bank and get interest and live on it.
Ivan fancied that his wife would lock the money or spend it uselessly for her relatives. he hated his relations too who would crave for money. Masha too had her own dreams and plans. As a result of their contradictory dreams, both hated each other.
Ivan decided to shatter her dreams and so he immediately looked at the winning number and read the series 9499 number 46. They realized that they were not the winners. They were really disappointed and continued their work.
