• After the first world war, Germany experienced high unemployment and inflation. Adolf Hitler founded the Nationalist Socialist Party also known as the Nazi Party.​ Adolf Hitler was a gifted orator. He was able to exploit the people’s discontent through his powerful speeches. He promised to return Germany back to its glory. In 1933, he came to power in Germany.​
• After coming to power, he proclaimed the Nazi Party as the only political party permitted in Germany. This way, he became the dictator of Germany.​ Hitler followed an aggressive policy towards other nations. He invaded Czechoslovakia in 1939 which resulted in the declaration of war by Britain and France.​
• Germany attacked Russia in 1941, ignoring the peace pact. Germany surrendered to Russia in the battle of Stalingrad in 1943. In 1945, Soviet troops entered Nazi Germany. ​Hitler decided to stay in Berlin, but Berlin was also besieged by the Soviets. In April 1945, Hitler committed suicide.
