Write any one function of (i) Oxytocin & (ii) ADH.

(i) Oxytocin

Oxytocin hormone is released by the posterior portion of the pituitary gland. It is mainly functional in females.

Function:

Oxytocin hormone is responsible for the contraction of the uterus during childbirth in females.

(ii) ADH

ADH, i.e., Anti-diuretic hormone, is secreted by the posterior pituitary gland. It is also known as Vasopressin.

Function:

The prime function of ADH is to regulate the reabsorption of water and electrolyte by the nephrons (in the distal convoluted tubule portion) and thereby maintain water and electrolyte balance in the body.
