Solution

Transpiration:

  • The process of removing water from plants through openings, like stomata and lenticels, is known as transpiration.

Function:

  • Transpiration helps in the movement of water molecules from the roots to the upper part of the plants. The removal of water molecules generates a transpiration pull in the xylem tissue allowing the water to move upward.
  • The removal of water from plants also helps to cool the leaves, thus protecting them from wilting during sunlight.
