(ii) It generates NADPH${}_2$ molecules which are used as reductant In biosynthetic processes. Production of NADPH${}_2$ is not linked to ATP generation of pentose phosphate pathway.
(iii) It provides ribose sugar for the synthesis of nucleic acids.
