Kidneys:

The Kidneys are the most vital organs of the human excretory system. They are a pair of organs that have a reddish-brown, bean-shaped appearance. They are found on either side of the backbone. The right kidney is placed slightly lower than that of the left kidney.

Functions of the kidney:

• The kidneys' main function is the excretion of nitrogenous waste (mainly urea) and other waste products from the body.
• They also help in osmoregulation, i.e., the maintenance of osmotic pressure of the fluid and electrolyte balance.
